MACHAKOS COUNTY STRENGTHENS COFFEE PRODUCTION TO BOOST FARMERS’ LIVELIHOODS

The Machakos County Government, led by Governor Wavinya Ndeti, is implementing the National Agriculture Value Chain Development Programme (NAVCDP) as part of its commitment to improving the livelihoods of Machakos residents through strategic coffee production enhancement initiatives.
Today, the Chief Officers for Agriculture, Cooperative Development, and Livestock oversaw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Chief Officer for Agriculture and six Coffee Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) across the county.
The FPOs will receive Ksh 55.82 million in enterprise development grants. This funding will support the modernization of coffee factories, improving coffee quality and increasing incomes for farmers and residents.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to boost agricultural productivity, drive economic growth, and enhance food security in Machakos County.
